Ola Electric S1 Z
The Ola S1 Z brings the EV experience to a much lower price point than the rest of Ola's lineup. It has a claimed top speed of 70 kmph, on the modest side for the segment. Power comes from a 4 kW peak mid-drive motor, paired with a choice of two battery packs. Claimed range goes up to 301 km on the larger 5.1 kWh pack, a strong figure for a scooter priced this aggressively. Ola's LFP cell chemistry underpins both variants, promising better longevity and thermal stability than conventional battery packs.

Pros & Cons of S1 Z
What we admire in this scooter
Introductory price starts at Rs. 79,999, among the most affordable electric scooters in the segment
Choice of two battery packs, offering a claimed IDC range of 179 km or 301 km depending on variant
Uses Ola's in-house LFP cell chemistry, built for better thermal stability and a longer lifespan
Comes with MoveOS 5, bringing OTA updates, GPS tracking, ride stats, and geo-fencing as standard
Battery warranty stands at 3 years or 40,000 km, extendable up to 8 years or 70,000 km
What could have been better
Top speed is limited to 70 kmph on both variants, making it less suited to highway stretches
Acceleration figures, 4.6 to 4.9 seconds for 0-40 kmph, are on the leisurely side for the segment
Deliveries are pushed out several months, with the 5.1 kWh variant only arriving by March 2027
Colour choices are limited to four options at launch
Should I buy the S1 Z?
The S1Z makes sense if you're stepping into the EV world for the first time and don't want to stretch your budget doing it. At Rs. 79,999, it undercuts most electric scooters on the market while still offering a genuinely rounded feature list, cruise control, regen braking, and OTA updates included. The bigger draw is Ola's LFP-based Bharat Cell, which should hold up better over years of use than the batteries on rival scooters at this price. Where it asks for patience is the wait itself, deliveries only begin from December 2026, stretching to March 2027 for the higher-range variant. If you can wait that long and don't need highway-worthy speed, the S1Z is hard to beat on value.
- The S1 Z sticks to a simple, no-frills design aimed at keeping costs down while still looking contemporary. It's offered in four colour options: Matcha Green, Blue, White, and Anthracite, giving buyers a reasonably fresh palette to choose from despite the scooter's budget positioning.
- Being an entry-level offering, the S1 Z skips some of the flashier styling cues seen on the higher variants in Ola's lineup, focusing instead on a clean, functional look.
- The S1 Z is powered by a 4 kW peak mid-drive IPM motor with aluminium winding. It's offered with two battery pack options, a 3.1 kWh unit delivering a claimed IDC range of 179 km, and a larger 5.1 kWh pack pushing that up to 301 km.
- Top speed on both variants is capped at 70 kmph, with 0-40 kmph acceleration coming in at 4.6 seconds for the smaller battery and 4.9 seconds for the larger one.
- Both packs use Ola's LFP cell chemistry, engineered for thermal stability across a wide temperature range and a longer usable lifespan compared to conventional cells. Home charging from 0-80 percent takes 5 hours 42 minutes on the 3.1 kWh pack and 6 hours 16 minutes on the 5.1 kWh pack.
- The scooter runs on MoveOS 5, which brings over-the-air updates, GPS tracking, detailed ride statistics, and geo and time fencing, all accessible through the Ola app.
- Riders get a 3.4-inch LCD console displaying speed, time, battery level, trip, and odometer readouts.
- A cruise control function lets riders lock in a speed on open stretches with a single tap, a useful addition at this price point. It also gets a reverse mode and regen braking.
- Battery warranty stands at 3 years or 40,000 km as standard, with the option to extend coverage up to 8 years or 70,000 km on request.
