Exclusive - Kia Carens Clavis Diesel Automatic HTE (O) Launched at Rs 15.81 Lakhs

While Kia Motors recently showcased a wide range of concepts and upcoming products, such as the Clavis with factory-fitted CNG, they have quietly introduced a more affordable, HTE (O) diesel automatic variant in the Clavis range. This new Kia Carens automatic variant is priced at Rs 15.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and sits below the HTK+ variant, which until now was the only diesel automatic variant in the Carens Clavis lineup.

Kia Carens Clavis HTE (O) Diesel Automatic Features

While the HTE (O) variant is the entry-level variant of the Clavis diesel automatic range, it is fairly loaded in terms of features. Features such as leatherette seats, 16-inch stylised wheels, 8-inch touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic headlamps, etc are available on the manual HTE (O) variants.

What the automatic variant will also get, in addition to these features, is drive modes (Eco/Normal/Sport), remote engine start, smart key with motion detection, push-button start and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold functionality. All of these features enhance the value-for-money quotient of this variant. 

Kia Carens Clavis HTE (O) Diesel Automatic Powertrain details 

The Kia Carens Clavis diesel automatic is powered by a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi turbo diesel unit that puts out 115 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission duties on this model are handled by a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. This combination is shared across various models of the Hyundai-Kia group, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and the Kia Syros.

The Kia Carens Clavis is already a very popular choice amongst families who want a comfortable people mover that also gives them the choice of a variety of powertrains, and the addition of this variant is only going to make this vehicle’s case stronger in front of prospective customers. In addition to this, Kia has also showcased the upcoming Carens Clavis CNG model, which is going pose a tough challenge to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 in the coming days.
