What we don't Like

At over 5.1 metres long, the LM is unwieldy to self-drive, and with only limited units sold in India, getting one isn't guaranteed even with the money ready.

When it comes to a true A-grade back seat experience, it's either the Lexus LM, the Rolls-Royce Phantom, or the Mercedes-Maybach. But the LM goes a step further with a glass partition that separates the driver from the rear cabin, and curtains that turn the back seat into your own private living room while moving through traffic. Lexus has also done a remarkable job differentiating the LM from the Vellfire, despite both riding on the same platform underneath. This isn't just a luxury MPV. It's a moving seven-star hotel.

Pros & Cons of LM

What we admire in this car

The 4-seater Ultra Luxury variant offers a genuine first-class lounge experience, with a dimming privacy partition and power ottomans for the rear seats

Rear passengers also get massage seats and a 48-inch ceiling-mounted display for entertainment on the move

23-speaker Mark Levinson sound system on the top variant, one of the largest setups on any car sold in India

Silent, refined 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain keeps NVH levels low, ideal for a chauffeur-driven car

Lexus reliability and Toyota-derived engineering reduce the usual worries around ownership

AWD comes as standard across both variants

What could have been better

Priced from Rs 2.20 crore for the 7-seater VIP and up to Rs 2.75 crore for the 4-seater Ultra Luxury, ex-showroom, well beyond most rivals

At 5,125mm long, self-driving it through city traffic is a chore.

Small Lexus dealer network in India limits sales and service convenience outside major cities

High running costs, since spares and labour on a Lexus don't come cheap.

Should I buy the LM?

This is a tailor-made car for people who don't have time to reach multiple places in a day, so they want their vehicle to be like their office, with a complete cut-off from the world. That's why, even with its behemoth size, it comes in a 4-seater configuration where the rear passenger gets the most features, including a glass partition, curtains, a TV, and seats worth millions. That said, a 7-seater version is also on sale, but if you want this car, going for the 4-seater is the only configuration that makes sense, and it's the one that sells the most. Now, if this is what you are looking for, the Lexus LM is the car you should buy.
